Duo follow dad as new firefighters go on call
THERE are five new on-call firefighters at stations in Macclesfield - including two that will be following in their father’s footsteps.
Natasha Belt and Adam Davies will be at Macclesfield station, on Chester Road, after being among those to have completed the training course.
Anthony Houghton, Brian Press and Adam Sebes will also be new faces at Bollington station, on Albert Road.
As on-call firefighters they will combine this role with other jobs.
Gus O’Rouke, assistant chief officer for Cheshire Fire Service, said: “Natasha has loved her time in the fire service so far. It’s nice for her to be able to follow in her dad’s footsteps as he was also an oncall firefighter in Macclesfield.”
“Adam’s dream has always been to follow in his father’s footsteps, who had a long career with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. He has worked hard to achieve his dream.”
As on-call members of the service the new recruits must live or work within five minutes of their respective stations.
Firefighter Houghton has recently moved to Bollington, from where he buys and sells high-end sports cars.
His new colleague Firefighter Press has also relocated to the town and, having served in the military, is a self-employed heating engineer.
While Firefighter Sebes runs a bike repair business in Bollington and is a qualified mountain bike instructor who runs guided tours.
They are among 25 new on-call firefighters across
Cheshire, all of whom took part in a passing out parade in Knutsford.
Mr O’Rouke added: “I would like to congratulate the new recruits for completing their training and welcome them to the service.
“Being an on-call firefighter is an exciting and demanding role that allows people to make a real difference to their community and help to save lives.”
