Eco location
was a guest of Club Med Miches, with all-inclusive prices from approximately £1,600 per person per week.
Children and teens, meanwhile, will be thrilled by facilities built just for them. For the tots there’s a ‘clip and climb’ climbing frame challenge with a zipwire and a purpose-built pool with slides. An interactive climbing wall was also popular with my little one. Older children can do archery and mini-golf, and there are brand new basketball, football and pickleball (mini-tennis) courts.
That’s not all. Club Med is big on getting people to try circus skills and there’s an intimidating flying trapeze set-up that apparently anyone can do. My four-year-old daughter even had a go, climbing 30 feet up a ladder to swing through the air, albeit safely attached to a line.
This Club Med has fewer watersports available than others, but there’s still paddle boarding and kayaking if you’re determined to get out onto the North Atlantic.
All of these activities are included in your stay, along with the unlimited boozing and eating. A number of excursions and other activities are also available at extra cost, such as Segway or horse rides along the beach or the use of top of the range e-bikes.
The main hub of the resort has a very upscale feel while the site is split into four villages. Explorer Cove is for families, Caribbean Paradise for couples and some families, while Archipelago and Emerald Jungle are adults-only areas.
The food here was more overtly French than other Club Med resorts I’ve visited. Haute cuisine ranged from delicately prepared salads and seafood starters to freshly grilled cuts of meat and even lobster. The aesthetically pleasing desserts are befitting of any Gallic patisserie and there’s nothing to stop you from trying them all!
And if your tastes are simpler, staples such as pizza, pasta, burgers and chicken are available at every meal. If you tire of the buffet there’s an on-site steakhouse offering the bizarre experience of being able to enjoy a normal restaurant experience and then walk out without paying.
The drinks were better than most all-inclusive resorts too, with premium beers, hand-made cocktails and even champagne available to all. It’s the recipe for a great holiday when we can all travel again.
