Trading champions engineer export glory
AN ENGINEERING firm has been recognised for its international trading success after being named as an export champion for the Northern Powerhouse region.
Statiflo, based on Wood Street, Macclesfield, has been selected for the Department for International Trade 2020 programme because of its strong export growth.
In this role it will help and advise other firms with less overseas experience crack export markets.
The company, which has subsidiaries in the USA and Germany, designs and distributes motionless mixing technology such as static mixers and gas dispersion systems.
It supplies industries including water and wastewater treatment, oil and gas, manufacturing, petrochemical, food and pharmaceutical.
This is done across 80 countries and its latest overseas partner is Doha Petroleum Construction Co in Qatar.
Gareth Fry, managing director, said: “Exports help businesses to expand while reducing their reliance on one market or geographical area. “I am extremely proud to have been involved in export sales for my entire career. It has broadened my sales experience and has enabled me to see and learn about many new cultures. Statiflo has many years’ experience of international trade and I am delighted that we can now help others to start their own export journeys and boost UK business.” Paul Stowers, from the Department for International Trade (DIT), said: “Our export champions all display excellence in global ambition, and each is well-placed to help local businesses explore their own exporting journey.
“It’s great to have Statiflo on board as the company is a shining example, with exports making up over 60 per cent of its turnover.
“Any business looking to enter new markets, or start exporting for the first time, should get in touch with their local DIT international trade adviser, where an introduction can be made to Statiflo to find out how exporting could help them reach their full growth potential.”
