Driver is cut from his car after smashing into tree
TWO car crashes in wintry conditions saw motorists taken to hospital - including one with serious injuries after he was rescued from his vehicle.
A driver in his 20s was seriously hurt when his Toyota Yaris hit a tree on London Road, Macclesfield, on Saturday, January 23, shortly after 10pm.
Firefighters from Macclesfield and Bollington stations cut the roof off the car to get the man out on a longboard and his was passed onto the care of paramedics.
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We attended with a number of resources including an ambulance and response vehicle.
“We’ve taken a man in his 20s to hospital with serious injuries.”
Crews were
at
the scene for around 90 minutes.
Earlier the same day, at around 10.20am, there was a three-car crash on Wilmslow Road, Macclesfield.
A Jaguar XF, Range Rover and Kia Sportage estate were involved and firefighters from Macclesfield and Wilmslow stations attended.
Paramedics were also called and assessed one male casualty who was then taken to hospital as a precaution.
Another in a series of wintry bursts of weather hit Macclesfield on Saturday, making the town look picturesque but some roads hazardous.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “We are current receiving a significant amount of calls of road traffic collisions across the county.
“If you do not need to travel please stay at home. If you do need to travel then please ensure you are driving to the road conditions.”
