Cable firm has charity in the pink

-

ACABLE manufacturing firm has laid the foundations for some fundraising with its latest product.

Autac Products, based on London Road, in Macclesfield has launched a pink third-generation electric vehicle cable and five per cent of its sales will be donated to charity Prevent Breast Cancer.

Managing director David Lowe and his wife Sallie, who is the finance director, have raised money for the cause before.

It is one that is close to their hearts as her sister

Julie lost her life to breast cancer in 2013 aged just 51.

David said: “The intention was always to continue our fundraising with vigour in 2020 but the pandemic had other ideas.

“It meant we needed to focus on our essential business status and produce the cables to help keep the UK’s fleets of vital grocery supplies on the road.

“We can only apologise that there’s been a dip in our fundraising efforts, particularly as charities like Prevent Breast Cancer are being hit so hard by the pandemic.

“Creating a pink cable seemed a perfect way to mark a new stage in supporting the charity.

“We encourage everyone with an electric vehicle - from the private onevehicle owner to the retailers, manufacturers and haulage companies with entire fleets - to help support this worthwhile cause.”

In 2019 David took on a charity trek to get to the Mount Everest Base Camp.

The team he was part of, which included Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor, raised a total of £132,000.

Nikki Barraclough, director of Prevent Breast Cancer, said: “The pandemic has resulted in a dramatic drop in our income and the support of companies is more important now than ever before.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Autac and excited to see how many cables we can sell.

“The funds raised will support our vital research, and help the charity to continue its work raising awareness of the signs and symptoms and the different risk factors of this devastating disease.”
