Natalie’s offering the Lowe-down on golfing fitness

- GOLF GEOFF GARNETT

FORMER Cheshire ladies champion Natalie Lowe provides a superb example to young golfers that there are different ways to achieve success in a golfing environment other than on the golf course.

Her outstanding work ethic, ambition, dedication have seen her develop her own highly successful business – Pro-Fit Golf Conditioning based in Heald Green.

Natalie, a former member of Macclesfield, Styal and Prestbury Golf Clubs in her golf development days outlined her career path.

“I began playing golf aged 15 when my brother Sam wanted to start playing and we both joined as juniors at Macclesfield GC. I played many sports in my teens, football to a high standard and achieved a black belt in karate.

“Golf became an extension of those and I loved playing in the weekend junior competitions and matches. I got my handicap down to four after two years, found my way into the county squad and by 21 I was playing off +2 competing in the elite amateur events. I had a few course records along the way shooting -7, -6, -5 on respective courses and won the Cheshire County Championship in back to back years 2011 and 2012.

“I turned professional where I played a season on the LET Access Tour. After missing out at two Q-Schools I decided to retire from competitive golf. I’d found tour life really difficult emotionally and financially and I realised life as a female professional golfer wouldn’t provide me with the things I wanted to achieve so I stumbled around for a year before qualifying as a personal trainer aged 25.

“I’d always loved all sports and had a natural brain for anatomy and science so it seemed an easy transition and something I thought I would enjoy. After a year working as a personal trainer I felt there was a lack of knowledge and availability for good fitness information and practical application that was specific to golf. I realised there was a gap in the market for golf specific fitness and started my business Pro-Fit Golf Conditioning.

“I set out to become the best golf fitness trainer around and provide my clients with the highest level of knowledge and application. I’ve invested in and achieved many industry associated qualifications from across the world at the top level

“Education is really important and along with my formal training I’m a big believer that if you claim to be an expert then that’s exactly what you should be - become your best case study and practice what you preach.

“My philosophy as a golf fitness trainer is to help all golfers become the best they can be. Our bodies are typically built around our physical limitations and as a result so are our golf swings.

“We improve the games of all golfers we meet by helping them improve their mobility, strength, biomechanics and overall health. We work alongside some of the best golf coaches and physios in the UK to provide our golfers with the highest possible service and level of care. Whether you are a weekend warrior or you have aspirations to play on tour we can help you become the best player you can be.

“My business has grown from strength to strength. I’ve trained and I employed my first team mate in Vincent Maynard

a fellow golfer, trainer and qualified sports therapist.

“Our goal for 2021 is to open our own golf performance centre with the gym and fitness at the forefront. I’m proud to have been part of many successes on and off the golf course, from our golfers playing in The Open, to their professional wins or clients finally being able to walk around the golf course pain free.

“I’m passionate about producing successful results for my players and constantly progressing in my business and personal development as a coach. “There are many people who have helped me along the from the golf coaches I worked with my business mentors who provide constant support and special thanks to my family and friends who continually support everything I do and put up with my obsessive level of working! I hope once Covid clears we can get back on the golf course enjoying the game we love!”
