Prestbury stumble in chase

PRESTBURY 1st team had the long journey to Westminste­r Park, where Westminste­r won the toss and decided to bat.

With the score at 45 Prestbury got the first wicket when Prestbury skipper took a catch off the bowling of Finlay Calder. Nick Taylor had Tirmal lbw but Westminste­r pushed the score to 105.

Rahul Metha had Laxman caught by Oldfield for 28 but Parveen pushed on to his century. Calder did strike again twice with the score on 197 and 199 but Vyshar and Parveen 115 not out took the Westminste­r score to 249 for 5 off 40 overs, with Finlay Calder taking 3 for 32.

Prestbury innings didn’t get a good start with Ogden’s duck but Jim Wallace and Stu Costello took the score to 59. Costello fell for 38 then Oldfield, Livesley and Wallace all fell in quick succession and Prestbury closed at 97 all out.

Prestbury 2nds also hosted Urmston 3rds. Prestbury won the toss and batted but collapsed to 54 for 4. Will Worswick and Tom Nelson put on 76, Worswick making 51 helping Prestbury reach 179 for 7.

Urmston had a poor start as Worswick took 3 quick wickets supported by Adlal Ahmed with 2 wickets. Urmston were 56 for 6 and closed on 139 all out.

On Sunday the 3rds hosted Langley 3rds.

Prestbury skipper Will Worswick won the toss and batted, Alex Insley scored a maiden century supported by Tom Nelson 83 and with Jake Ogden reaching 61, Prestbury posted 305 for 5 off 40 overs.

Langley struggled against the varied Prestbury bowling attack and were all out for 118 in the 24th over. Prestbury wicket takers were Nick Ogden 1 for 27, Ridley Partridge 1 for 4,

Adam Partridge 1 for 1 and Sumon Ahmed 5 for 26.
