Macron Cup quarter final moved to Macc

-

MACCLESFIELD FC has confirmed that the club’s Macron Cup quarter final against Skelmersdale United – originally scheduled to be played at the JMO Sports Park – will now be played at the Leasing.com Stadium.

This comes as a result of a formal request being made from our opponents to switch the tie from the JMO Sports Park.

The match will take place on Monday 2nd May, with kick-off set for 3pm.

Dan Roberts, Skelmersdale’s

Secretary, said: “The club has asked Macclesfield to take home advantage for the upcoming Macron League Cup match which they have agreed to do.

“The reason for the forfeiting of home advantage is to facilitate a timely resolution of groundworks linked to the Ground Grading Criteria following the expiration of the current pitch test certificate, as the club look to prepare for what we hope will be Step 4 football next season.

“Amongst the aforementioned groundworks will be some essential maintenance works by an outside contractor to the playing surface in preparation for FIFA

Testing Certification in line with regulations concerning the use of artificial grass pitches in the National League System.

“Playing competitive league or cup football on the surface in the absence of such certification is not permitted due to insurance rules.

“Despite the best efforts of all at SUFC and JMO Sports Park, it has become apparent that re-certification will not be possible within the timeframe to have the Quarter Final completed in advance of the scheduled Semi Final date of 7th May.

“We appreciate that the switch of venue, whilst unavoidable, may be disappointing for some supporters but we hope you can travel in good numbers and offer the great vocal support for the team as you did for the league fixture recently, and we thank you for that amazing support over the course of the season.

“We thank Macclesfield for their understanding and agreeing to host the fixture.

“The fixture is scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd May, with a 3pm ko and ticketing arrangements will be communicated separately in the near future.”
