Three held in police swoop
THREE people have been arrested following a spate of burglaries where an estimated £1 million of “high-value” cars, jewellery, and clothes were stolen.
Macclesfield Police raided three addresses in Wythenshawe and one in Runcorn as part of their investigation into eight break-ins in Cheshire and Stockport earlier this year.
Two men, aged 43 and 32, and a 36-year-old woman were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. All three suspects were released under investigation pending further enquiries.
It’s part of a Cheshire Constabulary crackdown on cross-border crime.
The arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into eight burglaries between February and June this year including Prestbury, Wilmslow, Bramhall, Over Peover and Goostrey.
A quantity of cash and cars, watches, jewellery, and designer clothing that police say they believe were collectively worth over £1m were stolen.
Cheshire Police’s Macclesfield Proactive Team said the warrants in Wythenshawe and
Runcorn formed part of their ongoing investigation into a number of highvalue burglaries across the east of Cheshire.
Detective Sergeant Angela Coppock, said: “Led by the Macclesfield Proactive Team, the investigation relates to eight incidents where we believe more than £1m worth of property was stolen.
“We have been gathering evidence and intelligence behind the scenes and the extensive work has now resulted in the arrest of these people.
“I hope this morning’s arrests provide reassurance to our communities, demonstrating that we are committed to doing all we can to tackle this type of criminality and ensuring that those who are responsible are held accountable for their actions.”
