LANGLEY firsts entertaine­d high-flying Bunbury at the weekend and despite a solid bowling display, the batsmen for the third weekend running under performed.

Skipper Chris Pattison won the toss and elected to bowl on a damp deck.

Callum Love struck in his first over, bowling Hales for 0.

Not to be outdone, Mo Faisal then bowled Farrington for 15 as Bunbury struggled to 21/2.

Ball and Munson saw off the openers, who were replaced by David Frame and Saq Ali.

Both bowled economical­ly, the innings was evenly poised as Bunbury reached 70/2. Frame then trapped Ball 15 LBW.

Steventon joined Munson and the pair pushed the total to 90.

Steventon 9 mistimed a drive and wicket keeper Sunny Malik pouched a simple catch.

Greenwood 0 soon followed as he he chipped to midwicket and Tom Potts took a fine diving catch off Frame.

Munson continued to hold the innings together, he brought up a well earned half century. However he turned down a second run and Caine 9 was run out.

Next ball Munson 55 hit Frame to deep square leg where Love took a fine catch.

Zak Howdle then claimed 2 wickets in 2 balls as Haigh 6 drove to Matt Nicholls, took a simple catch and then he caught and bowled Ackerman 0 first ball.

For Langley Frame 4/28 off 11 overs, Howdle 2/1 off 3 balls, Faisal 1/22 off 9 overs, Love 1/23 off 7 overs and Ali 1/38 off 8 overs all bowled well.

Opening bowlers Caine tore into the Langley top order as Sunny Malik 0 was LBW first ball, Nicholls and Syed Hassan dug in pushing the score slowly to 23 before Caine then saw Hassan 1 chip to mid off, he then bowled Nicholls 29 and Howdle 1 as Langley collapsed to 32/4.

The middle order faired little better as Potts 4 was bowled, Abid Hassan 10 was caught at deep square leg, Faisal 5 was bowled, Ali 9 drilled back to the bowler and was well caught, Frame 2 edged to wicket keeper and when Pattison 10 fell in the same fashion Langley were all out for 79. Pick of the bowling was Caine 4/18.

Langley slip to 8th place and travel to league leaders Heaton Mersey next week.

Langley seconds had a much better day.

They bowled Appleton out for 111 and it was great day for the Langley youth as Elliot and Luke Broadoak and Toby Hemmingway took 3 wickets - skipper Ricky Hughes taking 4 catches.

In reply Langley cruised home losing 4 wickets.

Tom Roberts 50no, assisted by Ben Nadin 21 and veteran Mark Nadin 14no.

Langley 3s defeated Heaton Mersey on Sunday. Mersey hit 129 all out and Langley knocked them off losing 8 wickets.
