Star turns lead the way for school’s class acts
CONGRATULATIONS was given to the class of 2022 at Tytherington School after a fine showing on A Level results day.
Three students achieved straight A*s or the equivalent – Amelia Preston, Jake Kilpatrick and Phoebe Mullins.
And a total of 12 were awarded three or more
A*s, As or distinctions.
Like students at other schools this was against the backdrop of several years disrupted education because of the pandemic.
The two students who achieved the highest value-added scores – based on progress made from GCSEs – were Abigail McDonald and Alexander Brown.
Abigail has secured a place to read drama and film studies at the University of Sussex and Alexander will read maths at the University of Durham.
Others gaining what they needed to make the next step in their education were Amelia Preston, who goes to Cambridge to read natural sciences, and Beatrix Haigh, who will begin a medicine degree at the University of Leeds.
While Ben Wood, Declan Sutcliffe, Evie Hadfield and Harrison McGovern have all secured degree apprenticeships.
Headteacher Manny
Botwe said: “This year group started their secondary experience when I joined the school so they will always hold a special place in my heart.
“I am delighted with the progress the students have made during their time at Tytherington and I am excited to see what they will achieve in the future.
“I’m pleased that we have the full range of students moving on to top universities, apprenticeships and the world of work. Their success has been down to their hard work combined with the passion of our staff.”
