Behaviour problems easily fixed

-

WHILST every day is different in the dog training business there is a pattern to the year as it progresses.

Immediately after Christmas and following the summer holidays there are big increase in the number of owners contacting me about their dog’s bad behaviour.

This is usually because they have spent extended time with their dogs and have become more aware of their dog’s unruly antics.

Pulling on the lead is a big issue, not coming when called and lunging at other dogs are always in the top ten of owner’s complaints yet none of these problems are difficult to fix with knowledge and perseverance.

I can usually get a dog to walk nicely to heel in ten minutes regardless of how long they have been pulling.

Teaching a dog not to jump up or lunge is equally simple and I can certainly demonstrate how to get your dog to come to you on command.

Many of the problems that cause dog owners so much stress are nowhere near as complicated as they appear, but you can’t do what you don’t know.

I had a lady approach me in the park yesterday bereft at her dog’s lunging at other dogs.

Within 15 minutes I had her walk past several oncoming dogs without any reaction whatsoever from her dog.

It’s not magic, understanding.

Dogs are creatures of habit and with practice and consistency that new behaviour will soon it’s replace his/her old bad habits.

If you need help with your dog’s behaviour I will be at Mobberley village fete at the Bulls Head, Mobberley, from midday on Saturday, August 27, with my Dog behaviour clinic where I will work directly with your dog to resolve his/ her issues.

You can text me for a fixed appointment on 07590 560012, or just turn up on the day and I will see you ASAP.

The only cost will be a cash donation of £10 to a local animal charity.

■ Holland & Barrett’s colourful new skincare range, Pip & Pod, harnesses the skin benefits of superfoods such as avocado, Kakadu plum and kale, offering something for every skincare taste. Vegan and made using waste byproducts, the range is purse-friendly too, with nothing costing more than £12.

■ Is it normal to sniff your bronzer? Absolutely, if it’s NARS Laguna Bronzing Cream, £32.50, which is scented with the brand’s divine French Polynesia Monoï de Tahiti Oil signature fragrance. Its creamy, smooth formula looks like warmed-up skin rather than make-up sitting on top. Originally a limited edition, it’s now part of the permanent collection in an extended range of five shades.

■ REN Clean Beauty has hit its “zero waste pledge”, meaning it now only produces packaging designed to be recyclable, containing recycled materials or that’s reusable. It’s proud of its reclosable aluminium tube now used for samples instead of sachets, a prime offender when it comes to single-use plastic.
