Wendy Wynn has been enjoying a great year as Lady Captain of Wilmslow Golf Club which recently hosted the English Girls Championship.

Wendy, who has been a member of Wilmslow for 20 years, said: “I live in Great Warford, which is only five minutes away from the club, and it was the highlight of my golfing career to be asked to be Lady Captain and I have enjoyed many outings to other clubs with friends during the season.

“I am a retired music teacher and as well as golf I played squash regularly until a few years ago and also enjoy sailing, tennis and dog walking as well as being a Manchester United season ticket holder.

“My current handicap is 19.4 and my best was 17 – in the old money before WHS!

“I usually play about three times a week and my favourite hole at Wilmslow is the ninth from the elevated tee.

“My chosen Lady Captain’s charity is the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust which is mainly an outdoor facility from terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children. It is a magical place where laughter and happy times are encouraged, friendships blossom and illness and sorrow are forgotten. It is near Altrincham and also has residential facilities.

“If I could choose players to join me in a fourball they would be any of the many friends I have made over the years whilst being a member of my club and also Alderley Edge where I began my golf.

“Finally Wilmslow is a wonderful course and it has shown this by the number of societies, county and England requests e have to play here.”
