Bolly good show as bike fest is set to hit road again
THE wheels are in motion for an annual cycling extravaganza to return next month.
Bollington Bikefest 2022 will be held for the 11th time on Sunday, September 18, and entries are now open for three different routes
For the most energetic there is the Grimshaw Grueller - a 72-mile course that has had a slight change to take in Wildboarclough, the Goyt Valley and Pym’s Chair.
There is also the Bolly Bash, which is 46 miles and goes through Nether Alderley, Goostrey and Marton among other place.
Both will include feed stations on the route and GPX data will be available.
A more leisurely Twenty (km) is Plenty event is 12 miles along the Middlewood Way and has a special entry rate for families.
The Bikefest has been organised Macclesfield and District Lions Club,
Bollington Town Council and Girl Guiding Cheshire Border.
Money raised will go to East Cheshire Hospice and other local causes
Deborah Hughes, who is among the organising team, said: “After the pandemic
it was great to see the regulars joined by so many new cyclists at last year’s event.
“We hope that you will join us and make Bikefest 2022 a memorable community occasion that will also raise vital funds for our much valued local charities who have struggled to raise income during this last difficult year.”
Start and finish point for the routes is Adelphi Mill, on Grimshaw Lane. Check-in starts at 7.30am and riders can leave from 8am onwards (9am for the Twenty is Plenty).
Burgers and drinks will be available at the end of the ride.
