Victory brace for firsts and seconds

PRESTBURY had the long trip to play Malpas who won the toss and batted.

After a solid start, 42 off 15 overs, first change bowler Tom Nelson got a double breakthrou­gh getting both openers in three overs, caught by George Brindley and Muta Ramanathan.

Rakes Alex got in on the act with a wicket, bowling David and Malpas were 52 for 3. They recovered to 89 for 3 but Sumon Ahmed bowled Chorlton and struck again with the score on 103, bowling Wiseman for 29.

Will Worswick took two wickets to close the Malpas innings at the end of their 45 overs, again catches taken by Jake Ogden and Andy Scott.

Prestbury needed 168 in 45 overs and got off to a solid start.

Scott and Oldfield were 34 off 10 overs but were both dismissed – Scott for 23 and Oldfield 14.

Worswick was bowled for 2, also Ogden was LBW for 17 and at 63 for 4 the game in the balance.

George Brindley and Rishi Mehta put on 85, taking the score on to 148 but Mehta was out for 28 and Brindley – after completing a fine half century – also fell for 56.

When Ramanathan was out for 2, Prestbury needed 9 and Ahmed wrapped it up with a four and a six to win in the 37th over.

Prestbury seconds were home to Toft 4th. Prestbury skipper Gabor Simon won the toss and batted and the team posted 286 for 5 off 40 overs, with Ridley Partridge 25, Al Knight 44 and Shake 47 and a fine captain’s innings from Simon 125 not out.

Toft didn’t look like threatenin­g the Prestbury score and were all out for 183 in the 32nd over.

Prestbury wicket takers Yass 1 for 31, JP 1 for 26, Adel 2 for 17 and a first second team five-wicket haul for Santi 5 for 18. Prestbury seconds have secured fourth place.
