Pearls pop up for market’s return
ACHARITY that works to remove cultural barriers will hold its second popup market event.
Pearls of Cheshire will host the market in Victoria Park, Macclesfield, on Saturday, October 22, from 11am to 4pm.
There will be stalls, food, drink, a tombola, face painting and a bouncy castle. The event follows a successful one held in the park in July.
Heather Crawford, from Pearls of Cheshire, said: “Our services are available to everyone who may need them, but we particularly cater to those from a BAME background and those who have immigrated to the UK.
“We support the community in a variety of ways, including social support, domestic abuse support and immigration assistance.
“But a big part of what we do is aimed at helping remove cultural barriers
and any other obstacles to education and empowerment for both adults and children.
“We work hard to help identify the current areas of need and bridge the gaps where previously people would get lost.”
The charity offers adult classes in English, maths and IT, a homework club, eco therapy, sewing
classes and a children’s club specialising in core school subjects.
There are also workshops and free school holiday clubs.
Events such as the popup market help raise funds to supplement what is received from Cheshire East Council.
Heather added: “When we held the first one in
July, it was both a way to fundraise and a way to give some of our very talented service a chance to share their craft or skill and find future customers.
“It was a fantastic success and the feedback we had from visitors and sellers highlighted the need for more community events in the area.”
