SENIOR RAILCARD

It’s still one of the best: the Senior Railcard (senior-railcard.co.uk). It offers a third off train tickets, and costs £30 for one year or £70 for three years. You can currently buy the one year version with just £10 of Tesco Clubcard points.

NATIONAL EXPRESS

The National Express coachcard costs £15 (including postage), which offers a third off travel to anyone aged 60 and over, plus £15 returns mid-week anywhere inthe UK (nationalex­press.com).

NATIONAL TRUST

If you’re a National Trust member – and have been for at least five of the last 10 years – you can get senior membership at 25% off. You’ll pay £57.60, instead of £76.80 for a single annual membership or £95.40, instead of £127.20 for a joint membership. Meanwhile, senior membership from English Heritage, from the age of 65, costs £59, down from the full price of £66.

FREE EYE TESTS

You’re entitled to a free eye test, but you may be able to get discounts too. Specsavers offers 25% off all glasses over £69 for the over 60s.

BOOTS ADVANTAGE CARD

Boots has special offers on its Advantage Card for the over 60s. You get more points for every pound spent in store, discounts, and special offers – including extra points if you have a free hearing test.

ICELAND OFFERS

Iceland offers 10% off for the over 60s every Tuesday.

CINEMA DISCOUNTS

Check your local cinema for discounts and offers. Odeon cinemas has specific silver screenings with £3.50 tickets and free refreshmen­ts, while Showcase cinema offers £5 tickets on Monday mornings.
