People to salute our fallen heroes
HUNDREDS of people will gather across Macclesfield and the surrounding area to mark Remembrance Sunday, on November 13.
A parade will set off from the town hall at 10.25am and those in it are told to assemble at 10am sharp.
Then a service and two minutes silence will be held at the War Memorial at Park Green from 11am.
A Royal British Legion spokesman said: “Let’s make this years Parade the best Macclesfield has ever seen.
“If you are not parading then we hope to see large numbers lining the route and at the cenotaph.”
In Bollington Adlington Road, Palmerston Street and Wellington Road will be shut (excluding emergency vehicles) between 10am and midday for a parade and service.
While in Poynton a parade sets off from the civic centre, on Park Lane, at 9.35am (meet 9am) and heads to St George’s Church for a service.
There will be a two minutes silence and a bugler will play the last post before the parade returns to the civic centre.
Diversions will be in place between 9.30am and 11.30am for London Road South, Chester Road, London Road North and Park Lane.
Other events include a service at Prestbury War Memorial from 10.45am.
