-

THE news ale-lovers have been waiting for arrived this week – tickets are now on sale for the Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival.

The annual event will be at Macclesfield Rugby Club, Priory Lane, with evening sessions on Friday May 10 and Saturday, May 11.

A free family-friendly day sessions also takes place on the Saturday and all will have more than 150 beers, ciders and perries on offer (as well as lager, wine and prosecco).

The beneficiary for 2024 is Cheshire Search and Rescue, a voluntary organisation that helps police with missing people and flood response.

It is hoped funds raised will buy a much-needed replacement boat.

James Hogben, who is among the organising team, said: “We’re excited to launch the Macclesfield Charity Beer Festival for 2024, which will this year raise funds for the fantastic Cheshire Search and Rescue.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our main sponsors as well as our amazing volunteers and everyone that comes and supports the event each year. We can’t wait to welcome you.”

This year’s sponsors are SAS Daniels, Bennett Brooks and Spiral Print.

Over its 27-year history the festival has raised more than £300,000.

Evening sessions begin at 7pm and there will be live music and food. Tickets are £12.50 and include a commemorative glass.

While Saturday will include vintage games, face painting, market stalls, and live music from midday to 6pm.

Oliver Buckingham, from Cheshire Search and Rescue, said: “Over the last 12–18 months our current boat has been used a lot more than it ever has, which also takes its toll on the equipment.

“Now needs to be replaced with a metal-hulled boat that will make a huge difference to where and how we can deploy.”

Tickets are available from MaccBeerFest.co.uk.
