Jen launches new special programme of exercises

-

AMUM who went through early menopause is now using her personal trainer business to help others with the same condition.

Jen Harden, 38, from Hurdsfield, founded Jen Harden Personal Training in September last year.

And now Jen, pictured, has launched her Strength in Numbers programme, which focuses on strength training, particularly for women in perimenopause.

The mum-of-two, who is qualified in nutrition, also wants to get the message across to all women that they should be confident in themselves.

She said: “Unfortunately society has led a lot of women to believe that they need to be a certain size in order to be happy and healthy.

“I’m on a mission to educate women in the local community that it goes beyond size, helping them to actually understand what their bodies need, at what stage of life.

“There’s a lack of education around the benefits of particular exercises at every stage of a women’s life, from pregnancy and postnatally, right through to perimenopause and then on to menopause.”

On average in the UK the menopause hits around the age of 51, with perimenopause starting for some women in their early 30s.

Having been through perimenopause herself, Jen says she can understand the confusion and isolation that can come with the condition.

She received treatment from Doctor Laura Clark, from The Lifestyle Health Clinic, and the duo now work together in woman specific health and fitness.

Laura said: “It’s so important that we are opening up the conversation around the benefits of exercise and good nutrition beyond physical appearance.

“They have such significant beneficial effects on the female body and mind throughout the ageing process and in reducing the risk of many long term health conditions.

“Jen is helping to empower the women in our local community.”
