Verdict is due on bid to build a new house
RESIDENTS will find out this week whether their objections to the building of a house in their neighbourhood will be successful.
Jon Wynne want to put up a new house on land adjacent to 17 Avonside Way, Macclesfield, now the current plot has been divided into two.
But nine existing households in the area objected to his proposals, giving reasons including overlooking, loss of light and overdevelopment of the site.
Ward councillor Liz Braithwaite also has concerns, including distance from nearby homes, and has called in Mr Wynne’s planning application to be decided at a northern area planning committee.
Fellow councillor Brian Puddicombe has also objected, saying: “I have serious concerns that it would be out of keeping with other properties in the area.
“It would also seem highly likely that it will tower over adjacent properties with serious overlooking issues, including properties on Mayfield Avenue.”
The committee meeting will be held at
Macclesfield Town Hall on Wednesday, March 13. A report to members recommends the application is approved and says there have been amendments since objections were made.
It states: “Revised plans have been secured during the course of the application reducing the height of the dwelling from a three-storey dwelling to two storey and removing the balcony from the rear. These amendments help reduce any substantial amenity issues.
The report also says some windows have been removed from the original plans and the distance from neighbouring properties would be acceptable.
According to plans the site is 430m sq, the new property would take up 284m sq and an existing dwelling has 146m sq.
A report with the application says: “The layout of the building on the site has been carefully considered with regard to adjacent amenity of all surrounding properties maintaining distances required from gable end to habitable rooms and habitable rooms facing one another.”
