You beauties – dance trio set for big stage

-

ASUPERB achievement has been made by three talented young dancers.

In January Louisa Storey, Heidi Naylor and Emily Moores were chosen to be part of the 90-strong cast of English Youth Ballet’s (EYB’s) production of Sleeping Beauty.

They were selected in hugely competitive auditions.

The young cast are currently experiencing the life of a professional dancer in rehearsals.

They are very excited, as they will perform alongside international professional dancers in English Youth Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty at the Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent from Fri 12-Sat 13 April.

Emily, from Macclesfield, attends Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield and Bella Danza Studios dance school. Heidi, from Heaton, attends Alderley Edge School for Girls and Rooftop Studios dance school and Louisa, from Disley, attends The King’s School in Macclesfield and Bella Danza Studios dance school.

Emily Moores said about her dancing, EYB and the future: “I started dancing when I was about three, I was really excited to try it.

“Dancing makes me feel free and happy.

“At EYB, I’m hoping to improve my pointe work and picking up choreography more quickly.

“I also dance lyrical and contemporary and I would like to get more experience in jazz. I would like to inspire younger dancers at my dance school. My dream would be to dance the Esmeralda Variation on pointe at the Youth American Grand Prix.”

EYB Principal Lindsey Fraser will be starring as Aurora in the production.

Before joining EYB she danced with the Vienna Festival Ballet. She said “I wish I had danced with EYB when I was young.

“The dancers learn so much about performance skills and the artistry of ballet.

“I love working as a principal dancer with EYB because I get to dance fantastic roles and teach and watch the young dancers progress. The sets and costumes in the production are superb and the whole experience is one the young dancers (and the audiences) will never forget!”

EYB Director Janet Lewis OBE said: “English Youth Ballet’s aim is to provide performance experience to aspiring young dancers in beautiful venues close to where they live.

“The young dancers get to experience what life is like in a professional ballet company.

“They learn about developing their artistic and performance skills as well as improving their technique.

“I am always amazed at how quickly the young dancers progress and how positive they are when

presented with new challenges.”

There will be three performances of EYB’s acclaimed ballet – Sleeping

Beauty. The lavish production will star six international principal dancers and showcase the talents of 90 young dancers from

the local area.
