DJ Jordan wows with his first hometown gig

-

ASUCCESSFUL DJ who has played sets across European clubs has appeared at his first ever gig in his hometown of Macclesfield... and has already been booked to return.

Jordan Cox, 23, from Broken Cross, appeared at the Cave, on Mill Street, on Saturday, March 30.

He first discovered a talent for music production in year seven at Fallibroome Academy before continuing at Macclesfield Academy.

And now he DJs full-time in Manchester and across the UK as well as Mediterranean party resorts in the summer.

Despite this impressive list the Macclesfield gig was extra special.

Before the gig Jordan said: “It’s an honour, when you DJ elsewhere it is great but can be a bit tiring, but in your hometown it doesn’t feel like work.

“I can’t wait to get up there, it’s exciting but will be one of the most nervous I’ve been.”

A spokesman said: “We managed to hit 330 sales. 30 above our target, the night went tremendously well.

“Jordan even got an encore at 5am with most of the capacity still there! Nobody wanted to leave, the response was absolutely amazing.

“We had Jordan stay around until 5.30am taking pictures and speaking to everyone that came, he didn’t miss a single person out. It really was the talk of the town all weekend and into the week following.

“So, due to high demand and people trying to re-sell tickets we have already booked in July 27th for an even bigger show with a double headliner joining Jordan at the Cave once again.”

Tickets had gone on sale four years to the day since Jordan’s late dad Bill passed away.

Although Bill’s tastes included a whole room dedicated to Elvis Presley’s very different music, he also liked

New Order and was a big influence on his son.

Jordan said: “Going to start high school I was quite anxious so my dad told me to find a subject I enjoyed and use that as motivation. I did extra sessions at lunchtime in music production.

“I couldn’t do it at home, so that was a distraction from the anxiety and the motivation to get me to school.”

Jordan was a part-time DJ who also worked in marketing until the beginning of last year when a sold-out gig at Vision, in Manchester, persuaded him to go full-time.

The move has paid off with a host of further appearances, two singles on Spotify and more than 400,000 streams across multiple online platforms.

He is also in talks with major record labels about further releases.

Jordan said: “Whether it be classical or hard rock, music has an impact on almost every person on the planet, it is amazing to be able to do that yourself with something you have done. When someone says it’s your song that has got them through their gym workout that’s great, it’s something you have made in your bedroom or the studio and it can be streamed anywhere in the world.”
