Muddy course for Cliveden 10k

The popular Cliveden 10k took place on Sunday morning, with 64 Maidenhead Athletic Club (MAC) members taking on the muddy and slippery course.

A target race for many of the club’s runners, they had to contend with difficult conditions after an early morning downpour made for testing conditions through the woods.

Jon Regan climbed the 177 steps twice to finish sixth overall, while Abbie Jones was the club’s first female finisher, also coming sixth in the women’s race. She also scooped a trophy in the 17-39 age category.

Pauline Siddons was also first in her age category, while Carolyn Lockett and Dave Waterman were second in theirs, missing out on first place by seconds.

On Saturday Abbie Jones and Lili Rawlings competed in the fourth match of the Chiltern League at the Equestrian Centre in Keysoe, Bedfordshire, splashing through a water jump en route to the finish line. They both did exceptionally well, with Abbie second in the u20s Division 2 race and Lili eighth in the u17s Division 2 race. Both girls have moved up from 10th to ninth positions in their respective age categories.

The final meet takes place at Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes next month.

On Sunday, Gerry Killen took on the steep hills and descents of the Rough-n-Tumble 10m off-road race in Wiltshire. Starting and finishing in the village of Milton Lilbourne, Gerry completed the challenging course in 1.46.33.

Tamzin Bellamy was the best overall u13s athlete at the Sportshall Competition. Her u13s team won bronze.

There was also an individual bronze for Callum Presnail at u13s level, with his team coming second overall. Jack Britton was fourth, only two points behind Callum.

The u15s girls’ and boys’ team both won silver medals. Joshua Presnail was fourth overall.
