BUCKS:

Victims of the Australian bushfires have been handed a boost by the Buckingham­shire Freemasons.

Masons have contribute­d to a £79,000 grant through the Masonic Charitable Foundation – funded by freemasons from across England and Wales.

This will see AUS$50,000 given to the Australian Freemasons’ Disaster Relief Funds in each of the three states most affected by the blaze: New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

John Clark, head of Buckingham­shire Freemasons, said: “I’m very pleased that Buckingham­shire Freemasons are working together with freemasons in Australia to raise funds to help the victims of the blazes, many of whom have lost everything.”

ROYAL BOROUGH:

Tickets are on sale for the Mayor’s charity ball which will take place at Ascot Racecourse, in the High Street, on Saturday, May 2, in aid of Thames Hospice

The event will run from 7pm to 1am.

There will be a drinks reception and threecours­e meal with half a bottle of wine.

Live music, entertainm­ent and silent auctions will add to the fun.

COOKHAM & BOURNE END:

Members of the Cookham and Bourne End Inner Wheel Club sorted out cupboards and jigsaw puzzles at Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) on Friday to celebrate Inner Wheel Club Day.

TOWN CENTRE:

An Elvis impersonat­or and raffle will be raising money for the Mental Health Foundation next month.

The charity fundraiser will take place on Friday, February 21 from 8pm until late at The Portland Arms in West Street.
