Maldenhead Swimming Club: Bell and Dean help put club in the fast lane

Amelia Bell and William Dean led the way with meet records as Maidenhead Swimming Club enjoyed one of it's most successful weekends at the county championsh­ips.

The club won 10 gold medals, 18 silver and 19 bronze medals and its swimmers made it through to 42 finals, the best of any club in the competitio­n.

Two of their gold medallists were Bell and Dean, who were victorious in the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststro­ke events respective­ly. Amelia was also third in the senior category.

Lola Mateos Cantero also smashed her personal best by nine seconds to take first place in the 200m fly - winning both her age group title and the overall title.

There were also impressive swims from the likes of James Calliss, third in the men's

1,500m freestyle, and Louise Ashford, who replicated that feat in the same event. She was also good enough to win gold in her age group race.

Adrian Ting was also on fine form in the men's 50m free, touching home just one, one hundredth of a second behind the winner to finish second overall.

Ben Phillips won bronze in his u13s/12s age group and in the junior category in the 50m and 100m butterfly. In the same age group Chloe Platt took three silvers and two bronze medals from various events and Ethan Charley collected an impressive one gold, four silvers and one bronze, bringing his recent medal tally up to 12.

Maidenhead Swimming Club finished fourth overall in the women's events and third in the men's/boys field.

Lola Mateos Cantero was the fifth best female competing at the championsh­ips and Ethan Charley was the sixth best male.

From this season's county championsh­ips Team Maidenhead have claimed 18 golds, 31 silvers, 32 bronzes and had 83 swimmers represent them in the finals.

They've also achieved three new county championsh­ip meet records.
