Billy produces man of the match display
Billy Montague produced a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday’s 7-2 win over Brackley Town Saints on Saturday. The striker got his name on the scoresheet three times and also chipped in with three assists, helping teammates Tomas Kalinauskas and Adam McNamara find the net.
Since joining the Royalists from Beaconsfield Montague has netted nine times in nine appearances. He has become a key and trusted member of the squad since returning from an injury which needed an operation in September and was involved in six of Windsor’s seven goal haul at Stag Meadow.
Speaking about the match, prior to Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat by Reading
City, Montague said: “It was probably one of the best performances we’ve put in since I’ve been there.
“I thought we were very clinical and overall it was a very dominant performance. I think it was one of those days where a lot of things go right and we really took our chances.
“I was really happy to get a hat-trick and really pleased for the team and for Mark (Cooper) and Spencer (Meredith).
“I’ve played under a lot of managers in the last few years I’ve played men’s football. I’ve played for three teams now but Mark is absolutely fantastic. As a manager it’s about getting the best out of players and I think he really does that and with Spence aswell.”
He added: “They’ve got a great relationship with the players but they can also knuckle down and tell them where we’re going wrong and where we need to improve.”
