Gardening therapy set to start
TWYFORD: A project using gardening to support the mental health and wellbeing of residents in Twyford is set to start in April.
Twyford Parish Council, which is heading up the initiative alongside Age UK, has committed £5,350 to launch the Green Prescription Scheme for Twyford residents who are referred by a social prescriber.
They will take part in weekly gardening activities in groups, alongside a horticultural therapist at Twyford allotments, in the hope that the social activities help alleviate their mental health problems.
The scheme is set to run for six months. Age UK will take charge of the referrals and co-ordinate with a horticultural therapist.
