Danson-Bennett to champion healthier lifestyle

-

Marlow’s Alex Danson-Bennett will get to use her extensive experience and passion for sport and fitness as Vitality’s new performance champion, with the company announcing an exciting new partnership with the Great Britain Women’s hockey team.

Danson-Bennett MBE will use her experiences to help businesses motivate and inspire their colleagues to look after one another and prioritise their health and well-being.

Last year the former GB hockey player announced her retirement from international hockey. At the time she said she’d lived her dream and was not unhappy about the prospect of stepping back from the international game, however, after suffering a bad head injury while on holiday in 2018, she’d realised she could no longer be the athlete she wanted to be.

Danson-Bennett won Olympic gold and bronze medals with Great Britain during an impressive career.

Reflecting on her new role she said last week: “This announcement is fantastic news for the game of hockey and for women’s sport. I am delighted to be joining an organisation that seeks to raise the profile of women’s sport, and I’m sure this partnership will see many more people get involved in the game, become more active and live healthier lifestyles.”

Great Britain’s women’s hockey have signed a landmark three-year deal with Vitality. The health, life and investment company will become principal partners of the teams and will help to drive grassroots participation. It hoped the partnership will also provide support for the game and further raise its profile. The announcement comes at the start of an exciting year for the sport and the team, with GB’s women set to travel to Tokyo later this summer to defend their Olympic title.
