VIRTUAL ZONE
Tate Modern www.tate.org.uk
From getting creative with online activities, visiting artists in their studios, going behind the scenes of the galleries, or exploring exhibitions through film and music, Tate is offering a wide range of resources, games and videos to provide entertainment and to help keep people feeling inspired at home.
The public can go behind the scenes at Tate in a new film exploring how the collection care and curatorial teams have been working together to find new ways of looking after art in these exceptional times.
Two online events offer viewers a chance to explore movement and performance art inspired by the work of Bruce Nauman as part of the Terra Foundation for American Art Series: New Perspectives. Resilient Responses: Repair and Restore will be streamed today (Thursday) at tate.org.uk and available to watch back until February 21.
Viewers will be invited to join a moving meditation with performance artist and dance psychotherapist Ekin Bernay, aimed at calming the mind by encouraging slow and intuitive movement.
On February 4 watch the premiere of a new performance recorded inside Tate Modern’s subterranean Tanks.
This fresh and relevant work from some of the most intriguing artists working in performance today was filmed live to camera in the gallery last year.
Thomas Heyes, Ekin Bernay and Rowdy SS with special guest Rebecca Bellantoni respond through movement, sound and spoken word, considering what it means to be human and resilient during a pandemic.
