Danilo at the double in Magpies victories

-

Maidenhead United 4, Yeovil Town 2 Danilo Orsi-Dadomo scored twice to help Maidenhead United to an entertaining 4-2 victory over Yeovil Town at York Road on Wednesday evening last week (January 27)

Alan Devonshire’s Magpies were able to build on their goalless draw with Woking, but had to come from behind to claim all three points on a rain-sodden evening under the floodlights.

Orsi-Dadomo slotted home United’s equaliser on the halfhour before second half goals from Manny Parry, Dan Sparkes and Orsi-Dadomo again, this time from the spot, sealed an impressive victory.

United fell behind against the run of play in the 19th minute when Albi Skendi slotted the ball beyond Taye Ashby-Hammond, and the visitors threatened to extend their lead before the Magpies came back into it.

Ashby-Hammond saved well from Alex Bradley’s stinging shot in the 21st minute while Reuben Reid was thwarted from close range by another smothering save from the United stopper.

Orsi-Dadomo missed a good opportunity in the 26th minute when he stabbed the ball wide from Sam Barratt’s cross, but he made amends five minutes later, escaping the clutches of the Yeovil defence to coolly slot home.

Parry put the Magpies ahead five minutes after the restart, heading home from close range after finding some space in the Glovers’ area.

Sparkes then put the home side further ahead in the 70th minute, lashing the ball low into the bottom corner from distance to give keeper Adam Smith no chance.

An enthralling game took another twist when Skendi met Bradley’s cross in the 75th minute to score his second of the game. But Maidenhead sealed all three points in the 89th minute when Orsi-Dadomo fired home from the spot after the referee spotted a handball in the box.

The result ended Yeovil’s three match winning streak and left them 20th in the table.

United backed up the win with victory at Halifax Town on Saturday to move up to sixth in table, but Altrincham's 2-1 win at Torquay United on Tuesday saw them drop a place to seventh ahead of Saturday's fixtures.
