Danilo's double in vain as Maidenhead slip up to the Shots at York Road

-

Danilo Orsi-Dadomo took his goalscoring tally to nine this season after netting a brace in Maidenhead United’s 4-2 defeat to Aldershot Town on Tuesday evening.

The forward’s contribution gave the Magpies a lifeline after he scored his first moments before half time and his second shortly after the break to make the tie 3-2.

And he could have single-handedly brought the game back on level terms with an attempt just after the hour that hit the chest of Shots ‘keeper Walker, denying the forward a hattrick and his team an equaliser.

Had Maidenhead not started so slowly, the 24-year-old believes his team could have emerged victorious.

“We weren’t at it to begin with. We conceded three sloppy goals and I think the ref should have given us something on the second one,” he said.

“We started off slow again and the gaffer has been saying to us how we’ve got to pick it up when we’re starting the games. But we didn’t and that’s what killed us.

“I think everyone felt comfortable going forward and on another day we could be two or three up ourselves.

“We got the goal just before half-time to take it to 3-1 so it gave us some confidence for the second half. We were just unfortunate not to get an equaliser after the second.”

“It’s always nice to score, especially a couple, but the main thing is, as a team, we get those three points,” added Orsi-Dadomo. “We haven’t done that today but we will work hard and we will move on from this.”
