Boys u18s exit league cup after thrilling tie with Pumas

Maidenhead Boys & Girls u18s Boys lost a thrilling league cup tie 8-7 at Berks County Pumas this weekend, while the u17s Cobras (right) also exited their league cup competitio­n following a 3-1 home defeat to Division 2 Ashridge Park.

The run of defeats continued with the u16s Colts losing 5-3 at home to Division 4 side Hawley Youth Raiders. Ben Thompson and Rhyce O’Connor scored to make it 3-3 with 20 minutes to go but the visitors netted twice more to seal victory. Man of the match was Freddie Nash.

The u15s Vipers lost 2-1 at home to Ashridge Park in the league, with the Vipers playing the match with only 10 players.

The u14s Sharks suffered a heavy 14-1 away defeat to Hawley Youth Colts in the league cup.

Thankfully, the u14s Dolphins progressed in their league cup knock out match after a 5-3 win over Rotherfiel­d United Raptors. However, the u14s Foxes bowed out after a 2-1 away defeat to Ashridge Park Rovers. The u14s Panthers won 8-3 at Windsor Youth Swifts in the league cup, but the u13s Dragons run in the competitio­n was ended by a 10-1 home defeat to the Caversham AFC Arrows. There was an even heavier 15-1 away defeat for the u13s Jaguars at Caversham Trents Blues in the county cup, but the u12s Scorpions won their county cup knock out match 7-1 against Stoke Hammond Youth Warriors. The Wolverines u12s lost 4-3 to Pangbourne Phoenixes in the league.

There was a high-scoring 6-6 draw for the u12s Girls at home to Thatcham & Newbury Town Blue in the league while the u13s Girls edged out the Tilehurst Panthers Reds 4-3 in the league. The u14s Girls Mavericks also won 2-1 away at Wargrave Girls Lions.

W A near full fixture list of u11s matches went ahead in the Thames Valley Football Developmen­t League on Sunday with Explorers Blue beating Chalfont Saints Leopards 5-2 in Group 1 and the Maidenhead United Eagles soaring to a 5-0 home win over Singh Sabha.

In Group 2 the Burnham Junior Tigers were 3-2 winners at KS Gryf Juniors and Townmead Youth edged FC Holyport Hunters 3-2.

Maidenhead Warriors won an entertaini­ng and highscorin­g Group 3 game against Harefield United Blacks 5-4, with Caden Lawson netting a hat-trick for the Warriors. Ibrahim Hussein and Skai Rodrigues got their other goals.

Elsewhere in Group 3 there was a thumping 15-0 win for the Burnham Junior Whites over the George Green Whites, while S4K Leopards defeated Maidenhead United Colts 5-2. Chalfont Saints Hornets also triumphed 2-1 over Marish Wizards.

At u12s level, both Division 1 games ended in draws with the Cookham Dean Rebels and S4K Wolves sharing a goal apiece. Singh Sabha and FC Cippenham Panthers played out a goalless draw.

Cookham Dean Dynamos were 7-2 winners over Marish Wizards Blacks and the Slough Town Junior Stags beat FC Baylis Cubs 42.

The Delaford Colts Whites lost 8-3 against Gerrards Cross & Fulmer in the 2nd round of the Berks & Bucks FA u12s County Cup.

In one of the closer matches of the weekend, FC Holyport Warriors were beaten 1-0 by FC Cippenham Leopards at u13s level, with the only goal coming from a well-worked corner routine. Elsewhere there was a 3-1 win for Berks Elite Black away to Burnham Juniors Sabres Yellow, Townmead Youth cruised to a 7-3 victory over Chalfont Saints United, Burnham Juniors Whites edged Maidenhead United Cobras 5-4 and Redkore defeated Singh Sabha 9-3.

Slough Town Juniors u13s are through to the third round of the Berks & Bucks County Cup after beating Golden Eagles 6-4.
