Friday November 19 The Dolly Project Norden Farm

Watch a work in progress as it takes shape. After seven months of research and development, Take the Space are sharing a first peak of their latest show. It is a work in progress piece with film, zoom, country music, classical music and two angels on guitar and harmonica.

A dyslexic woman in her sixties has spent months working in a care home.

She realises that she can face anything now even her demons of literacy. Niamh is ready for her first challenge – the words and chords in her Dolly Parton songbook.

She wants to sing her heroine’s songs at The Country Music Festival in Blackpool. Niamh turns to the local choir master for music lessons on the condition that she’ll join his choir. Niamh has never sung posh music before and she’s scared that they’ll all find out about her.

This is the story of a woman who resolves to grab a bigger life before it’s too late. It is a journey of transformation, inspired by Dolly Parton’s own narrative.

As part of the creative process, the audience are invited to join a post-show discussion chaired by Jane Corry, chief wxecutive and Artistic Director at Norden Farm.
