Vice captain pleased to see Sherborne ‘punished for their naughtiness’

-

Vice captain Ben Grant-Adamson believes Sherborne RFC were ‘punished for their naughtiness’ in Saturday’s battle at Home Park as Windsor kept their cool to secure their third victory of the Tribute South West 1 East season.

Early in the second half, with the score 10-19, the visitors’ Marcus Healey was shown a yellow card for an offence close to his try line. Favourably for the home side, Sherborne lost another man to the sin bin five minutes later when Toby O’Loughlin showed indiscipline.

Now with the player advantage, Windsor had the impetus to go and touch down another try. When Sherborne returned to a full XV on the field, they were able to retake the lead. Grant-Adamson, however, had the last laugh with his penalty kick after the hour mark.

After the match, the scrum-half said of his performance: “It was a tricky start for me, but I think I came back into the game alright. Enough of my kicks went over, and at crucial times too – that’s the most important thing.

“They (Sherborne) were a physical side. I think the referee managed the game well, and most decisions went our way. The game got quite niggly at times, and that happens quite a lot at this level.

“It was nice to see the opposition punished for their naughtiness today let’s say.”

Grant-Adamson added: “We travel to Trowbridge next and we’re all looking forward to that game.

“They’re going well, and it will probably be a tough match – as is any away fixture in this league. But after today’s performance, we’re confident.”
