Maidenhead: Father Christmas and his sleigh will raise smiles and funds
Father Christmas is set to return to Maidenhead on his annual tour of the town via sleigh.
Organised by the Maidenhead Round Table, Father Christmas will be touring Maidenhead with his assistants to raise money for charity.
Father Christmas has been completing his charitable trip around the town for almost 20 years, although, like many of us, he was subjected to travel restrictions last year due to the pandemic.
He has invested in a contactless card reader for 2021, meaning donations can be taken via cash or card in exchange for sweets.
Furthermore, residents can donate by scanning the QR code (pictured above) which can also be scanned when Santa comes to visit.
Keith Ashton of the Maidenhead Round Table said: “COVID-19 really hampered our efforts to visit local areas last year which impacted on
what we could donate to charities.
“We managed to get the sleigh out for one night only last year, and we weren’t able to raise any money which is a big part of what we do so we can donate to local charities.
“This year, there have been some challenges, obviously, in wondering what we need to do with regards to social distancing guidelines.
“Sourcing a vehicle has also been a challenge, but luckily
we managed to get one for this year.
“We were able to get out last night; we really relied on online donations, but a lot of people did which was really love to see.”
