MAIDENHEAD: A large container which appeared in Westmorland Road without the knowledge of the council has now been removed.

The 32ft unit – belonging to container hire company Mobile Mini – had been sitting on the highway since the weekend, near to the junction with the A4.

Ward councillor Gurpreet Bhangra (Con, Boyn Hill) raised health and safety concerns with regards to the location of the con- tainer in close proximity to the A4.

The Royal Borough has since confirmed that the unit was removed on Tuesday after being placed there ‘without permission’.

A spokesman added: “We identified the owner swiftly and asked them to remove as a matter of urgency, which they did.”

Mobile Mini has apologised for the inconvenience, with the matter remaining under ‘internal review’.

said: “Our understanding at the time of delivery was that all necessary location permits were in place, but following concerns raised by the public, we immediately made contact with our customer to rectify the situation.

“We can confirm that our driver has since returned to the location and removed the unit.

“We trust this prompt action has removed any potential concerns and apologise for any inconvenience.

“This matter remains under internal review and once that investigation is complete, we will act accordingly to ensure a similar situation does not occur again.”
