Santa Dashers raise £35k at woodland run

BRAY: Thames Hospice supporters have so far raised £35,000 for the charity through its annual Santa Dash, which took place in Bracknell at the weekend.

Hundreds of supporters suited up for the festive run at Swinley Forest on Sunday, with 600 participants dressed in Santa suits, reindeer antlers, and their own Christmas creations.

Hospice supporters could choose from three different routes around the forest – a 2k or 5k route for runners and walkers, or the more challenging 10k run.

The charity has reported that runners have so far racked up more than £35,000 for the hospice in Windsor Road.

After the dash, supporters soaked up the festive atmosphere whilst warming up with refreshments.

Alison Evans, head of community and events fundraising, said: “Our annual Santa Dash is always such a great event which kicks off the Christmas season.

“We really missed not being able to host it last year, so it felt extra special to get our community together again for one of our favourite festive events.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere and the sea of red Santa suits was a sight to behold.

“Thank you to everyone who signed up and fundraised for us; the support we’ve been shown has been truly amazing. So far our wonderful supporters have raised an incredible £35,000.”
