Jack proud of how club stayed 'connected'

-

Following the announcement of his decision to step down as head coach of Windsor RFC, Jack Pattinson declared one of his proudest accomplishments in his two-and-a-half seasons in the role was getting people to ‘fall back in love with rugby again’.

Pattinson’s departure is due to his promotion at London Irish where he will now be operating as the u16s head coach, and the new workload means he would be unable to fulfil his coaching duties at Home Park.

The rugby committee are now in the process of reviewing the coaching structure and will make further announcements in due course. They will soon start the recruitment process for a new head coach for the 2022/2023 season.

“I’m incredibly proud to know I’ve helped people fall back in love with the game during my time at the club,” said Pattinson. “I know you can’t measure that with league tables or results, but it really was quite a special feeling to impact others this way.

“The famous win away at Wootton Bassett is another highlight. We scored two tries in the last four minutes against them and they were top of the league at the time, they hadn’t lost all season. We won 21-20 and there were some good celebrations after.

“To be honest, I’m also proud with how we all stayed connected and looked after each other through lockdown. That was a challenging 18 months, and it would have been very easy for us just to disconnect and unravel as a club.

“I have nothing but love for the people behind the scenes – Mike Crawshaw, Ian Potter, Neal Kennedy, Dan Jacobs and obviously the players. I will miss the club deeply, it’s been a great time and I’ve loved it a lot.”
