Heath’s charity match postponed due to COVID cases

-

There was disappointment for Flackwell Heath this week after their charity fundraiser, organised to take place at Tuesday’s home game with Broadfields United, had to be postponed due to COVID cases in the opposition camp.

Chris Ayres side had hoped to build on an encouraging display in their 1-1 draw at Dunstable Town last week, with the Heathens looking to haul themselves up the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division table.

Flackwell were also keen to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer UK, with chairman Terry Glynn having recently been given the all clear from prostate cancer for the second time.

There was to be free admission for all for the game with the hope that supporters would make charity donation on arrival.

Results elsewhere mean the Heathens are now eighth in the table, five points adrift of seventh placed Arlesey Town with three matches in hand.

The Heathens are due to get back to league action at 12th placed Harefield United on January 3.

The charity event will now be moved to a forthcoming home fixture in January, but the details have yet to be confirmed.

Over the past six years Terry has battled prostate cancer not once but twice and the fundraiser is a chance for the club to celebrate the fact he is now cancer free while also showing appreciation for his hard work and commitment to the club over the last 50 years.
