Windsor look to replace influential midfielder Losasso

-

Windsor boss Mark Cooper says he’s looking to bring in one, or possibly two players mid-season to replace midfielder Charlie Losasso who has moved on due to a change in work commitments.

The Royalists are preparing for this Saturday’s trip to Ascot United, and although the Yellamen are back in form following the return of key players from injury, Cooper is confident his side can go to the Racecourse Ground and get something.

They’ll have to do that without the influential Losasso, however, one of the Royalists’ stand out players this season.

“We know they’re a very good side,” he said. “Their immediate form has been very good. They’ve had injury problems like we all have but from what I can tell, they’re pretty much at full strength again.

“It will be a difficult game for us as they always are, but we’ll do our best to go there and get something.

“There is familiarity between the clubs and the players but the two games we’ve played this season haven’t been over the top and they’ve been played in the right spirit.

“When we went to their place in the cup, I thought they were the better team on the night, and in the league at our place, we were better on the day. It’s a keenly contested derby but I expect it to be played in the right spirit.

“We’d like to put a run together, but we want to be competitive in every game we play and start picking up points on a more consistent basis.”

“We’ve got a bunch of players now that we’re pretty happy with,” he said. “It’s not the easiest time to pick up players and we’ve now lost Charlie Losasso and he’ll be missed. He’s been a quality player for us. A top, top player who has added a lot to our midfield, but he’s moved on for work commitments. We’d like to replace him with one or two players but other than that I’m pretty happy with the squad.”

League rivals Holyport FC and Burnham are yet to kick off their new year fixtures, with Burnham set to visit Hanworth Villa this Saturday and Port getting back to league action with a home game against Virginia Water on Saturday week (January 15).
