Event is ‘win-win’ as popular
The Lions Club of Maidenhead’s annual Swimarathon has raised more than £1million in the 36 years it has been running.
A total of 800 swimmers relayed from 7am-7pm in the 37th edition of the longrunning fundraiser on Sunday, which is set to once again support a range of good causes in the area.
These include Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club, Maidenhead Marlins, Maidenhead Drama Guild, Alexander Devine, the St Mark’s Church Building Fund, Maidenhead Sea Cadets and The Link Foundation.
Organisations made up of schools, scouts, councils and churches fancied their relay chances in the pool, with the event taking place in the Braywick Leisure Centre for the second time
