-

Cookham Running Club’s u13s girls’ team were bronze medal winners at the Buckinghamshire County Cross Country Championships in Milton Keynes on Saturday.

In wet and windy conditions, Grace Colley led the team home in eighth place, with Olivia Insley and Eva Carsberg also finishing well to ensure a strong performance in the team event.

Colley’s run saw her rewarded with automatic qualification for the Bucks team to compete at the UK Inter County Championships in Loughborough in March, while brother Sam, seventh in the u15s boys’ race, made it a family affair by also making the squad.

The Colley siblings will be joined by clubmates William Howes and William Hapgood who were fifth and sixth respectively in the u13s boys’ race. It takes Cookham’s tally of county representatives to nine with Frank McGrath, Jemima Ridley, Quinn Bookless, Jacqueline Heller and Eva Bartlett selected to run in Loughborough for Berkshire. Asmi Saha and Katherine Matthews are also reserves for the Berks team.

Jemima Ridley, 16, also continued her fine form at the Dorney 5k on Saturday, running a 35-second personal best to finish in 18.05.
