Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted Norden Farm
The nationwide cinema tour of new documentary Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted comes to where it all began.
The special screening is followed by a Q&A with the film’s director and producer Benjamin Field. He is joined by producer Jamie Anderson – the youngest son of Gerry Anderson.
Gerry Anderson started his 60-year career in Maidenhead.
He founded AP Films with cameraman Arthur Provis in 1957 and the company was based in Maidenhead’s Islet Park.
They later moved to a larger premises in Slough, where Gerry created and produced some of the world’s most beloved children’s television series including Stingray, Thunderbirds,
Captain Scarlet, Space:1999, Terrahawks, Space Precinct and many more.
Released a decade after Gerry Anderson’s death, this incredibly revealing, emotionally charged and deeply personal documentary draws on exclusive access to over 30 hours of previously unpublished interviews. It shares the untold stories that defined his life and body of work.
In a fitting tribute to the technical pioneer, and with permission from his son Jamie, the film uses artificial intelligence to bring Gerry to life. A ‘deep fake’ simulation, allows him to candidly share his story with fans on screen.
The film includes additional interviews and commentary from friends, family, fans and colleagues. It is a revealing look back through Gerry Anderson’s life, from a poverty-stricken childhood at the hands of warring parents, charting the previously undisclosed story of his journey to becoming the legendary creator whose legacy still inspires and entertains to this day.
