Youth teams serve up feast of entertainm­ent at festival

Thames Valley Football Developmen­t League teams served up a feast of entertainm­ent at their end-of-season festivals this weekend. Close to 200 u7s footballer­s and their families attended the finals day at Burnham FC's ground with players competing to lift four separate u17s cups.

All teams and players received medals after the competitio­n to mark their efforts. The u7s league cup and league trophy finals were incredibly close affairs in which the lead changed hands several times. In the cup, Singh Sabha Lions eventually edged out Windsor Buzzards 6-5, while in the Trophy final Townmead Youth Whites claimed a thrilling 6-5 win over Maidenhead

United Jaguars.

In the Plate final there was a more straight-forward 5-1 win for FC Cippenham Vipers over Townmead Youth Blues and the u7s Vase final saw Taplow United Youth defeat Maidenhead Warriors 12-2. The final of the u13s Subsiwith diary Cup was held afterwards with Burnham Juniors Sabres Whites (above) managing to overcome a Frontline team with only nine players 6-5. Burnham stormed into an early lead and held a comfortabl­e 5-2 advantage 10 minutes into the second half, but Frontline refused to go down without a fight and scored three further goals, however, Burnham's sixth in the final minutes wrapped up victory. The Burnham scorers were Isaac McDowell and Emmanuel Kyeremeh, with two goals apiece, and Aaron Shiel and Jake Hirst.

Two other finals were also settled, FC Holyport Hunters overcoming Maidenhead United Colts 5-2 to lift the u11s Vase Cup, and Burnham Junior Lynx Blue defeating Cookham Dean Rebels 6-0 in the u12s Vase cup.

W Maidenhead Boys & Girls u14s Panthers wrapped up their league campaign with a 7-4 win over Berks County

Wolves. The Panthers dominated the game with Harry James scoring four to add to goals from Ollie Webb, Rowan Sellman and an own goal.

The u18s boys lost 3-2 away at Westwood Wanderers Greens while the u16s Colts were also beaten 3-1 away by Hearts of Teddlothia­n Cheetahs.

The u15s Vipers defeated Farnboroug­h Juniors Yellows 7-3, despite only having 10 players and the u14s Foxes drew 2-2 with Sandhurst Town Royals. The u14s Girls Mavericks won 4-1 away at Laurel Park, finishing the season third from 11 teams in Division 1 while the u16s Girls lost 4-2 at league champions Laurel

Park. Maidenhead were runners-up.
