Thames Valley Cricket League: Gagan Singh's side move 10 points

Stoke Green strengthen­ed their position at the top of the Thames Valley League Division 1 table following an 88-run win over local rivals, and promotion hopefuls, Boyne Hill on Saturday.

Batting first on home turf, Green managed a modest 152-10 from 42.4 overs with thanks to Jamie Odell (45) and Pavinder Bhachu’s (47) sturdy contributi­ons.

Usman Ilyas (3-30), Prashant Kumar (3-36), and Hill skipper Ziya Mohamed (3-37), meanwhile, did the best work with the ball.

In reply, Hill achieved just 64 all out from 23.5 overs after a thoroughly impressive bowling display by Gurveer Singh (6-4). As a result, Mohamed’s men remain in fourth place, a considerab­le 29 points off the top three.

Cookham Dean have lifted themselves into sixth place after they emerged victorious against bottom-placed Burnham.

Upon winning the toss and electing to bat first, Burnham totted up a respectabl­e 248 all out from 49 overs owed to Normi Nadeem (30), Fahad Raja (30), Obaid Sarwar (48), and Adnan Shabbir’s (90) solid figures.

The target could well have been higher and harder to reach for Dean had it not been for Deswin Currency (4-41) and James le

Fleming (3-67).

In reply, Dean obtained 249 runs with just five wickets surrendere­d from 45 overs. Their most prolific batsmen were Ben Millar (42), Shahzad Asghar (49), Jake Lawson (33), James Isbell (71no) and Greg Davis (25).

Wraysbury have managed to cling onto third place for another week despite their 30run loss at Bushy Park in Division 2A.

Inserting themselves to bat first, Park recorded 210 all out from 49 overs. K Williman swatted 69 runs and K Pask knocked 26 while H Kakar (3-57) and S Hussain (3-28) dealt damage to the home side’s other batsmen.

Wraysbury were restricted in the chase by A Hogg (3-33) and T McIntosh (3-31) with the side managing 180 all out from 48.3 overs, despite N Baig (55) and J Mohan’s (38) best efforts.

Elsewhere in the division, Marlow drew with Hounslow & Whitton. Taking 10 points from the encounter, James Martin’s men stay in fifth place.

In Division 2B, Royal Ascot stay one position above the foot of the table thanks to their draw with Slough 2nds.

Hurst remain in fourth but are closing the gap on the top three of the division after thumping bottom-placed Fleet by eight wickets.

In Division 3A, Kidmore End beat White Waltham (10th) by seven wickets, while Sonning drew with Windsor (fourth), and Bagshot tied with Thatcham Town (ninth).

In Division 3B, Ickenham 2nds knocked Farnham Royal into ninth place with a twowicket win, while Maidenhead & Bray flew into third after defeating Boyne Hill 2nds by eight wickets.

Elsewhere, Peppard Stoke Row overcame Taplow (fourth) by four wickets in Division 4A, while Wooburn Narkovians (first) bested Gerrards Cross 2nds by two wickets.

Farnham Common (fourth) were also victorious against Hillingdon Manor by two wickets in Division 4B.
