Pinkneys’ promotion hopes all but ended by defeat

-

In the Premiership, Pinkneys Green’s hopes of promotion have been all but ended by Saturday’s three-wicket defeat to leaders Cadmore End. With four matches left to play, Cadmore have opened a 57-point lead over Pinkneys, with second placed Knotty Green also beginning to pull clear of the pack.

Visitors Green disappointed at the crease after electing to bat, reaching just 151 before being dismissed in the 34th over. The best of their efforts came from Ben Purchese, who scored 50 but few of his teammates were able to stick around with him in the middle. Huram Hussain finished with Cadmore's best figures, taking 4-22, with Atisham Ahmed taking three wickets for just one run in 1.1 overs.

Cadmore’s replay wasn’t exactly straight forward, with William Heyes (2-24) and Jagsit Dhillon (2-19) getting stuck into their order, but Adnan Ahmad held his nerve with 38 and Muhammad Waqas chipped in with 25 to see them to their target.

In the same division, Littlewick Green picked up 35 points for their seven-wicket win over Monks Risborough at Whiteleaf.

On winning the toss and electing to bat, Risborough managed just 192-all-out from 43 overs, a target that was comfortably surpassed by Littlewick in 36.1 overs.

Risborough got off to the worst start with the bat, as both openers were removed for ducks, and although Mohammed Humza Khaleef Amjad held their innings together with 80, with support from Farooq Butt (46), everyone else aside from Abdul Razzaq (12no) finished with single figure hauls. In reply, Christie Green top scored with 59 no out as Green eased to their target. They sit fifth in the table, just six points behind Pinkneys Green.

In Division 1 Holyport are racing away with the league title after beating Ruislip Victoria by six wickets, their 12th win from 14 matches this season.

Having restricted their third placed hosts to 173 all out, Port marched to their target in 20.1 overs, with Harsham Singh scoring an incredible 126 from 54 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 12 sixes. Earlier Razwan Hanif (5-32) and Ali Raza (43) bowled well to limit their hosts.

In the same division fourth placed Little Marlow drew with fifth placed Harspden 2nds. Having been bowled out for 158 in 44 overs, Little Marlow restricted Harpsden to 155-8. Captain Uzair Hassan scored 59 for Marlow.

Braywood beat Great Kingshill by just 23 runs to carve out another useful win in the Chilterns League Championship on Saturday. The visitors were indebted to a fine display from Prijith Vijayan, who hit 76 with the bat as Braywood reached 259-9 in 45 overs before taking 3-57 to limit their hosts' reply.

Having been put into bat, Braywood were rocked back on their heels by a couple of early wickets, however, with Vijayan (76) and Mudassar Yasin (65) finding form at the crease, they batted their way to a defendable total. Asad Munawer also chipped in with a useful 43 as Kingshill failed to pin down their middle order.

In reply, Kingshill began brightly, reaching 129-2 with Prabhav Sistla (76) matching Vijayan's efforts, but Braywood were able to put the brakes on, restricting them to 236-7 from 45 overs.
