Pauline places first in Burnham Beeches 10K
A warm morning greeted us for the Burnham Beeches half and 10K races last Sunday, writes Derek Philip-Xu.
Thankfully, the temperature was still in the 20s and there was plenty shade along the route. And, despite the hills, it is a lovely route. The half marathoners went off first at 9:15 and the 10K runners began 15 minutes later.
It’s a very well organised race with plenty of encouraging marshals and a couple of very welcome water stations along the way.
Congratulations go to Laurence Miles who came in first in the V50 category for the half marathon, and was first home for Maidenhead Athletics Club (MAC). Congratulations also to Craig West who was second overall in the 10K race, only 14s behind the winner. And MAC legend Pauline Siddons will need to clear some more space on the mantlepiece for her first place win in the 10K V70 category.
Well done to everyone who took part in the half and 10K races and coped with the heat.
W Ritvik Ganta and
Jack Hinchy represented Maidenhead Athletics Club at the Watford AC Open Meet last Wednesday (August 10).
In the 100m, Ritvik ran an impressive 13.73s with Jack at 13.82s, both personal bests. They also both set PBs in
Shot Put, Ritvik with 6.37m and Jack with 8.06m – which improved further on the u13 boys club record he set last month.
