Rebels pick up their first three points at the expense of Dulwich Hamlet

-

Slough Town secured their first three points of the National League South season on Saturday which also condemned opposition Dulwich Hamlet to their first defeat.

Following a lacklustre first half display, some late goals from Ben Harris and former Maidenhead United player George Wells fired the Rebels on their way to victory.

Jon Underwood and Neil Baker’s men found themselves a goal down at the break thanks to Jayden Clarke’s curled finish past Jonathan North in the 38th minute.

However, following a rousing team talk, the Rebels dug deep in the second half to ensure they wouldn’t be walking away from Champion Hill pointless.

The comeback begun on the 68th minute when Harris levelled the score with a powerful header, assisted by Matthew Lench.

Wells was then able to put the Rebels in the ascendancy, and the travelling supporters in ecstasy, with a header of his own that bounced past Charlie Grainger in the 83rd minute.

Joint boss Baker said of the result: “Not the type of half time team talks we like to give, however not anywhere near our standards first half. However a much better performance second half and the lads dig deep to come away with the 3 points. As we said after Tuesday game we will play a lot worse than that and win.”

Slough Town rise to 20th place in the division as a result with Cheshunt their opposition at Arbour Park this Saturday (August 27).
