Maidenhead United welcome a few new faces ahead of the new season

-

Maidenhead United Women’s FA Womens National League season is due to start on Sunday, September 4 when the Magpies are scheduled to visit Portishead Town, who they defeated 3-1 in the equivalent fixture last season.

United will have a few new faces in their side for the new season, having lost the likes of Kirsty Matthews and 2021/22 top-scorer Nicole Barrett over the summer.

The latest new arrival sees Maidenhead take advantage of their close proximity to the University of Reading with the

Biomedical Science.

Sollis was most recently with Stevenage Women, who were in the FAWNL Division 1 South East last season with Maidenhead playing at the same level in the South West division.

20-year-old Louise revealed that Maidenhead ‘seemed like a good club at a decent level’ and paid tribute to United’s team spirit which led them to a highest ever FAWNL league finish last season, adding: ‘all the girls are very welcoming and friendly.’

Arsenal-supporting Sollis has football in her blood: “I started playing as soon as I could kick a ball really.

“My dad loves football so I always wanted to play. I joined a boys team at 5 until I was 11 then I played for Knebworth prior to going to Stevenage.”

Describing herself as ‘a passionate player who reads the game well’, Sollis has plenty of experience at a young age having experienced The Dana Cup ‘a massive football tournament in Denmark’.

She represented Ohio-based club Mansfield Crew in the tournament, an experience that came her way via a friend of her Uncle who coaches in the US, describing the tournament as ‘a great experience.’

Louise – like a number of her colleagues – is available for sponsorship throughout the 2022/23 season, whether by an individual or a business looking to support local women following the summer success of the Lionesses.
